Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her career began with Broadway career performing in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. For her role as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh has been collaborating in projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers for most of her career. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford has been engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford returns to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The group behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the helm of the production. Ashford was last seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the nation's first impeachment proceedings during the Over 100 Years. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Other Broadway roles for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
